This is a 1-month mandate in Ramallah, Occupied Palestinian Territory/Israel.
The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 14 countries and 3 regions over a seven-year period (2020-2027).
The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.
Here's what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with Oxfam's in-country team members, your mandate will be:
- Holding meetings with partners to discuss training contents, themes, and objectives to ensure a participatory approach to training design.
- Drafting a detailed training outline for the facilitator's assigned topic(s), including the outline of interactive and engaging discussion topics and activities.
- Facilitating the assigned sessions, both in person and virtually for partners in the West Bank and Gaza during a 5-day training.
- Support the evaluation and reflection process, including contributing to reporting.
- Provide technical support and coaching to the partners on specific research-related capacity strengthening needs, including designing and facilitating workshops or coaching on specific and technical topics such as safeguarding, protection, research ethics, particular data collection methods, etc.
- Support partners and the VCP team in promoting safe research practices and protection measures for women and girls.
For this mandate you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada.
- Have university degree in gender or feminist studies, research, international development or other relevant field.
- Have 3 years of experience in research and in designing and delivering trainings and workshops.
- Have a good knowledge of the socio-political context in the Middle East.
- Be able to adapt to an uncertain and changing environment and have a good tolerance for uncertainty.
- Be fluent in English, spoken and written (required). Arabic is an asset.
- Master the Office suite.
