We are looking for a Project Officer (m/f/d) to join our dedicated team in Jerusalem starting in August, 2022.

Who we are

forumZFD – forum Civil Peace Service is an International Non-Governmental Organization based in Germany and we work in the field of conflict transformation in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.

Within our regional program, we seek egalitarian partnerships with local civil society including NGOs, grassroots organizations, social movements, activists and artists. Together we implement projects and activities in the fields of organizational development, capacity development, community organizing, and media for social change. Our cooperation with partners is always needs-based and multidirectional. Within this framework, it is our vision to strengthen civil society actors and to contribute to an influential society that challenges fragmentation and promotes inclusive narratives.

forumZFD is recognized by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. It finances its work through public and private grants, donations, and membership fees.

Your tasks and responsibilities

forumZFD implements conflict transformation projects in development and humanitarian contexts. The programs are often multi-sectoral with clear peacebuilding components and approaches. The project officer will bring a sound understanding of the context, cultural and conflict sensitivity, as well as some previous experience in the field of peacebuilding, human rights, and community organizing

The primary purpose of the Project Officer’s role is to jointly work with and support the designated project manager in the design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation as well as in reporting of activities. These can then be carried out effectively and in line with best practice and donor requirements. The main areas of responsibility range from technical to administrative support including, but not limited to contributing to project planning, capacity building, reporting, and translation and interpretation can also be requested when needed. The post holder will also support in the application of M&E methodologies.

Specific tasks include

  • Support in the implementation and facilitation of projects that have a strong focus on community organizing and capacity development of diverse groups such as women, youth and partners in both Israel and Palestine
  • Network with community leaders, activists, artists, and youth or women groups according to the needs of the project to ensure its adequate implementation
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with partners and communicate with them on a regular basis to ensure adequate implementation of activities in coordination with the project manager
  • Provide administrative, logistics and interpretation and translation support based on needs identified
  • Provide support in the design and facilitation or co-facilitation of workshops or any other capacity building activity in coordination with the project manager
  • Contribute to the drafting of documents and reports related to project activities
  • Provide support in budget related aspects of the project and adhere to payment expenditures in close cooperation with the Project Manager
  • Actively participate in the annual planning of the country program and other strategic events
  • Provide technical support to monitoring and evaluation systems and processes and work with the PM&E Advisor where needed
  • Develop or provide support in the development of head office communication materials for international awareness raising efforts
  • Work on administrative and other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in social sciences, peacebuilding, gender studies, international development, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in project implementation work, preferably within the peacebuilding cooperation context.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing and a good understanding of peacebuilding approaches within the implementation process. Applying creative tools and methodologies is an added value
  • Strong experience in facilitating meetings, workshops, experience in working with M&E tools, including activity indicators and project outputs
  • Sensitivity to age, gender, and diversity mainstreaming
  • Good report writing skills in English
  • Professional working proficiency in English and Arabic; Hebrew language skills desirable.
  • Experience in working with multi-cultural teams and a good ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with team members
  • A high level of personal efficiency and an ability to balance multiple tasks
  • Valid driver’s license and at least 1 year of driving experience is an advantage
